An description of my club involvement, personal projects, and the relative courses I have taken that further enhance my employability.
For the past 4 years, I have been involved with SHPE Jr.--a club that works with the University of Arizona to educate and inform others about engineering fields through hands-on, interactive activities. By my junior year, I became treasurer and organized fundraisers, overlooked the club's money, and helped the club expand overall. That year, I also organized and taught a hands-on activity on Arduino, an open-source electronic prototyping platform. By senior year, I became Vice President, and am continuing to help the club grow. Currently, I am helping my club organize a school-wide STEM Night. Not only have I learned and explored many different engineering fields through this club, but I have also gained leadership experience, which will serve useful when working collaboratively as a software engineer.
For the past 2 years that I've been in FBLA, I've decided to partake in competitions relative to computers and technology such as computer problem solving, cyber security, and website design. Last year in regionals I won 1st place for website design, further showing that I am quite adept in terms of website development.
In the past year that I have been in Cyber Patriot, I have been able to partake in cyber security competitions against other teams around the nation. I've learned how to navigate through different operating systems, focusing on Windows for the competition and also becoming knowledgable on Cisco and it's Packet Tracer software which allows you to simulate and configure a network.
Helped build solar panel kits which included a source of power and lights to be sent and installed in Mexico.
On my free time, I have taken it upon myself to learn how to program outside of class.
In my junior year, I taught myself the basics of arduino through both the hardware, or electrical side, and the software, or the code supporting the hardware. Using my knowledge, I organized a mini activity providing students an introduction on arduino. For my club, SHPE, I also created a remote controlled car to be used for recruitment purposes.
Through Discord, a social media platform, I was able to begin making webhook bots, using PHP which would messages into certain servers upon command. Through javascript, I also created a bot that had the ability to respond to a user's message if.
I have taken numerous courses at school related to my desired career:
